June 9, 2008 |  4:37 pm

Clint Eastwood 's troops to the rescue! One of the filmmaker's trusty soldier stars of "Flags of Our Fathers" just came out blasting on his boss' behalf.

"You don't mess with Clint Eastwood, " Adam Beach warns Spike Lee about the "Dirty Harry" star in the aftermath of the latest escalation in the war of words between the two filmmakers. "You do not mess with Clint Eastwood."

"[Clint is] as good as it gets, " Beach tells MTV.com. "So if you have something to say about Clint, talk to him mano a mano. You're going to understand that the guy has a lot more respect that any of us have ever grown up with. "

Spike the oly reason your mouth is running is to try and get anyone to watch your poor excuse for a film

I used to think that Spike should go away, but now I'm not so sure. More people need to question directors who pretend like people who weren't white didn't exist in the past. While times were different, they did and should be shown. He's a writer/director, it's not hard to include people if you really want to. I say "Go Spike" for keeping the conversation going...

Spike, you need to "Just go away..."
