Everybody's thanking dad tonight

Yeah, Tom Pelphrey's salute to his dad was what you thought it was. His dad just died in December. "He was a basketball player — six feet four. Huge. His name was Richard so they called him Big Dick. He paid for my college tuition even though I was studying acting. I asked him, 'Dad? Why are you supporting me for a career in acting? And he said, 'Because I didn't know what I wanted to when I was young. I admire you for that.' "

Pelphrey will soon be 26 years old. Cutoff for the younger actor category is 25, so he's no longer eligible to win again. May not matter since he's no longer on "Guiding Light," but he says that he's open to working on another soap now that he just moved to Los Angeles.

This is Pelphrey's second win out of four nominations. The last time he won, Gina Tognoni and Jennifer Landon also won. Creepy, eh? Yeah, "Jen wins every year," he reminded us backstage.
