Last year's Emmy winner Terry O'Quinn is truly lost! He's not on the semi-finalist list

June 30, 2008 |  7:53 pm

Biggest surprise among the stars missing from the Emmy list of semifinalists for best supporting drama actor is last year's champ Terry O'Quinn ("Lost"). Also snubbed: last Terry_oquinn_2 year's nominee Masi Oka ("Heroes"). Other notable oversights: Donald Sutherland ("Dirty Sexy Money"), John Larroquette ("Boston Legal"), Henry Ian Cusick ("Lost") and Robert Sean Leonard ("House"). Please note that there are 11 names listed, not the usual 10. This must signify an especially close result in the popular vote.

Emerson Will Win.
Emerson Should Win.

duh! and Raven: Having eleven in the list--or being in the top eleven--actually matters a lot. It's not like the Emmy voters just pick the same five people from their favorite shows again; the nominations aren't another popular vote. If you're in the top ten or eleven, every single Emmy voter will get a chance to see your work. This means that even if a person doesn't watch your show, you can still get a vote from him if he's impressed by your tape. Getting on this list has a lot to do with the final nominees.

So before you write another irritating and snobby post, just THINK!

Michael Emerson in a waltz.

Leonard was greate, no objections, but comparing to the job Michael Emerson did the Season 4... sorry Robert!!!
Hope Michael will have Emmy this year.

Robert Sean Leonard & Justin Chambers should totally be on this list.

I really like Michael Emerson, but I think he is submitting the episode when his daughter was shot and I remember watching this, and other episodes he had this season, where I just didn't feel he had a great emotional climax. For me, it seems like he held back too much, even for his character. I wanted to see something in those eyes that told me more of who this man is. I remember when he was on "The Practice" (which he won an emmy) and he had those moments where I got goosebumps at the end of some of his scenes. I definetely think he should be nominated but I wouldn't give him the award. At the same time, if I looked at his work over the entire season, instead of just one episode, I might be more inclined to give it to him.

Why isn't Robert Sean Leonard included??? he has done a great perfomance on House :(((

Actually, I think everyone is over-looking an absolutely stellar performance from a way overdue actor in Bruce Dern.

I would be very happy to see him deliver an acceptance speech for once. He is the best thing about Big Love and blows everyone else away in this category in TALENT. Hello....

I am so pissed that Robert Sean Leonard didn't make the top 10. How does TR Knight, Blair Underwood, and old farts William Shatner, and Ted Danson beat out RSL? Disgusting, just disgusting.

Emerson better win this thing in a landslide.

I never thought I would say this but none of the original characters from Lost have been the main draw for me the past couple seasons.

Without Emerson, Cusick, Jeremy Davis and Elizabeth Mitchell grabbing more screen this past season its hard to imagine what the show would have looked like in S4 without them.

The two shows will probably always end up being compared or linked to each other, but Lost has done a better job than Heroes in introducing characters to cycle in as others end up being killed off or leave the show. To be fair, Lost has 4 seasons to draw from where Heores has only had one chance to introduce a handful of new characters. The tailies in Lost were met with indifference for the most part....although now in retrospect they ended up being unnecessary to the story of the flight 815 survivors.

On the other hand it was almost an unanimous response of hatred for the fricken Wonder Twins introduced in S2.

aww, no henry ian cusick? :-( :-(

...i'll put my vote in for michael emerson, then. he deserves it.

TR Knight? If he turns out to be an actual nominee, I'm going to throw my television off the roof.

John Slattery needs to win this category. He was superb in Long Weekend. Nothing can touch that performance.

RSL not on the list!? I officially hate the Emmy's now. Not that they care,i know

TR Knight?! He hardly did anything all season. His co-star Justin Chambers is the one that deserves to be on that list. It's unfortunate that Chambers gets snubbed when he's a truly talented actor who had a fantastic season and deserves much more recognition.

I, too, hope Michael Emerson wins. I would like the other nominees to be Ted Danson, John Slattery and Blair Underwood. I don't really care about the 5th.

Sorry, Christian.

It's Michael Emerson, 'hands' down!

Robert Sean Leonard's perfornances this season were impeccable and heartfelt. If you didn't laugh and cry with Wilson this season, then you must be Vulcan. This oversight is horrible. The Emmy's are a farce.

As a frequent tv viewer, I'm happy with this list. That said, I will be decidedly less happy if this list does not look like this on July 17:

Ted Danson
Michael Emerson
Zeljko Ivanek
John Slattery
Blair Underwood

Any of these 5 would deserve to win. I wouldn't complain if Naveen Andrews were subbed in, but if the list isn't 5 of those 6, I won't be happy knowing the others came so close.

TR Knight? Seriously? I love Grey's, but Robert Sean Leonard acts circles around him. I hope Michael Emerson takes the award this year, he's fantastic.

Sometimes people are just so DUMB. How in hell do you believe this category having 11 nominees will have anything to do with if it has 5 or 6 final nominees???? A close race between 10th and 11th in the popular vote has absolutely ZERO bearing on if 5th and 6th will be close after the combination! Just THINK PEOPLE!
DUh DUh Duh Duh just think people blahadadadadadadadadadadadadada! Duh?Duh! just thinka dinkadink

I'm so happy that Zeljko Ivanek made the final top ten and I think he'll eventually win this category. I remember when I watched the episode of "I Hate These People" I thought that the episode would be a great submission for the emmys. I think it's some of the best acting on television this past year in absolutely any category!

Blair Underwood made it this far, and Josh Charles didn't? In fact, ALL those people made it this far and Josh Charles didn't? The hell with it, then.

So this means there will be 6 nominees, right?
