Our six Emmy prophets tied for most correct predix, but only one of us saw sneaky 'Family Guy' coming!

June 27, 2008 | 11:52 am

All six of our Emmy Awards prophets tied for the same score — 15 out of 20 when forecasting the top 10 finalists for best comedy and drama series: Michael Ausiello (Entertainment Weekly), Marc Berman (MediaWeek), Ray Richmond (Hollywood Reporter), me and our forum moderators and resident Emmy gurus Chris "Boomer" Beachum and Robert "Rob L" Licuria of AwardsHeaven.net.

Congrats to Richmond for being the only seer who saw that bid for "Family Guy" coming! He ended up besting the rest of us when sizing up the laffers by a score of 8 to 7 out of 10. Two mistakes we all made: betting on "Desperate Housewives" and not foreseeing the landing of "Flight of the Conchords."

However, Richmond pulled only a score of 7 in the drama lineup, where the rest of us tied for first place with eight correct predix. Nonetheless, Richmond, Ausiello and Berman were the only gurus to predict success for "The Wire. " However, all three didn't hail the reign of "The Tudors." Only Beachum and I called that. Our worst calls: Four of us picked "Brothers & Sisters" and three had big hopes for "Big Love. "

I don't understand how the most watched scripted TV show of the year (Desperate Housewives) got snubbed. It really doesn't make sense. Is it like the Oscars where people vote 1 as their top choice and that's pretty much all that matters? Or is it a 1 thru 10 kind of thing?
