Our Emmy gurus correctly predicted 80% of the lead acting contenders

All seven of our Emmy Awards pundits did well when it came to predicting the lead actors and actresses in comedy and drama series who would make the top 10. On average, we scored 30.5 out of a possible 38 (we still don't know two of the 10 comedy actor contenders). Compare that 80% success rate with the 75% (15 out of 20) we scored when predicting the top 10 comedy and drama series.

Michael Ausiello, formerly of TV Guide and newly with Entertainment Weekly, and longtime Hollywood Reporter columnist Ray Richmond came out on top with 32 of 38 predictions correct. Mike was the only one of us to predict the never-nominated Eva Longoria Parker would make it into the top 10 for the fourth season of "Desperate Housewives" while Ray excelled with the drama series actor race, getting a leading nine of the top 10.

Three of us came in second with 31 correct -- Marc Berman of Media Week, forum moderator Robert "Rob L" Licuria and myself. Rob, who has his own Emmy site -- AwardsHeaven.net – was the only one of us to predict Jeanne Tripplehorn of "Big Love" making the top ten drama series actress run-off.TVGuide.com got 27 correct.
