Britney Spears threatens encore at MTV Video Music Awards
While appearing with a 900-pound elephant, nobody can call Britney Spears fat again when she's doing a MTV gig.
But that is Britney's costar on the TV screen while dishing with Russell Brand, the little-known British comic who's hosting the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards. It's one of the cheeky promos teasing the Sept. 7 event.
At one point Brand suggests that there is sexual tension between them, but Britney shrugs, "I didn't feel any tension." Wait . . . that supposed to be hilarious, right?
And wait again. Does this mean that Britney will be performing again at the crazy kudofest?
Reuters reminds us: "Spears, coming off two marriages, two children and two stints in rehab, sought to launch a comeback on last year’s show with a performance of the song 'Gimme More.' Instead, she drew a torrent of ridicule for lumbering around on stage in an ill-fitting black bikini as she awkwardly lip-synced her way through the dance number. The incident proved a publicity bomb for Spears but a ratings boon for MTV."
Coyly, MTV won't say whether or not Britney will be part of the entertainment, but she's scheduled to attend because she's got two nominations for "Piece of Me."
Despite 16 nominations, Britney's never won an MTV Video Music Award. Now she competes against Mariah Carey, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Jordin Sparks for best female video and against Danity Kane, the Jonas Brothers, Panic at the Disco and Tokio Hotel for the best pop video.

There's a misprint. She has 3 nominations. Not 2.
And I'm so happy for her. But I hope the media can leave her alone enough for her comeback...and more importantly recovery...to continue.

I have read and re-read those first two paragraphs several times now, and I still don't understand what's being described to me.

I have to agree with Natalie (whether she's particularly literate or not Rob. Ever considered the fact that English may not be her native language? I'd like to know/see evidence of your bilingual talents).
Britney's performance was really, in the MTV scheme of things, not THAT bad, it was just worse than her own previous efforts.
