'Dancing With the Stars' won't win Cloris Leachman Emmy No. 10
Cloris Leachman may be "Dancing With the Stars" this fall, but this nine-time winner won't be waltzing off with another Emmy for her efforts. Though the hosts of such reality fare got an Emmy category just this year, the competitors who make these shows so irresistibly watchable are not Emmy eligible.
So, while "Dancing With the Stars" emcee Tom Bergeron faces off against Ryan Seacrest ("American Idol"), Jeff Probst ("Survivor"), Heidi Klum ("Project Runway") and Howie Mandel ("Deal or No Deal") for the hosting prize on Emmy night, none of the champs from those shows will be in contention. And neither will any of the judges who deliver their verdicts from the sidelines.
Yet this genre is so popular that Emmycast producers recruited the five hosting nominees to pull double duty on Sept. 21 and co-emcee the festivities.
Yesterday, we polled you, dear Gold Derby readers, about adding an Emmy category for judges, and you voted, 2 to 1, against that idea. Do you feel the same way about rewarding the competitors with Emmy gold as well? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Well Tom it depends. I'm sure NATAS would have some sort of membership rules concerning nominees...no? What would be the elgible talents? Would competitors submit one episode with a performance or all performances throughout the season? I think that it could work, but there would have to be some tough guidelines. The past participations of Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, Latoya London, Melinda Doolittle, David Cook, Will from SYTYCD, and Mel B to name a few would make for a strong arguement for the award.
