Cloris Leachman may be 'Dancing With the Stars,' but Emmy sits this one out
What a shame all-time Emmy champ Cloris Leachman is not eligible to compete for a record 10th trophy for her appearance on "Dancing With the Stars." This nine-time winner waltzed off with the show Monday night. At 82, she may not have all the moves of the younger set, but she sure shook things up when the music stopped.
As Sarah Rogers reports on Show Tracker, "She’s a force! Some highlights included her thrusting her leg up on the judges’ table, sitting on judge Carrie Ann’s lap, and telling people to vote for her because she was an orphan, and being an orphan involves a great deal of sadness. Backstage, when Samantha stated their total score, Cloris ripped a cue card with the number 16 written on it from some intern’s hands and exclaimed, 'They can’t even add up the numbers here, they’re so stupid!' Meanwhile, the rest of the cast appeared to be urinating beneath their sequins. In the end, however, despite the fact that it is extremely impressive to be 82 and dancing (she’s partnered with Corky Ballas, the father of Mark), 16 isn’t that great of a score, and it’s unlikely she’ll last too long, which is unfortunate. She provides an element of unpredictability that the show sorely needs."
Alas, Cloris Leachman won't win another Emmy, or most likely this competition, for all her efforts. Though the hosts of reality fare got an Emmy category this year -- "DWTS' " Tom Bergeron lost to Jeff Probst of "Survivor" -- the competitors who make these shows so irresistibly watchable are not Emmy eligible.

I am totally shocked at then negative comments from people on this site about Cloris.
Cloris is a comedian and everyone knows that. She said, “bitch” with a smile on her face about a score a judge said. How many comedians have said that word? It was a moment that the camera was on her and a chance to get; first a response of shock and then an embarrassed laugh. Now really is she had not taken that opportunity we could not call her a comedian.
Maybe those who are so angry did not see Cloris in the roles she played earlier in her career. She has wit.
She is not the best dancer and who cares. Why do you think there is public voting? It’s so that personality and what ever else the public thinks is important is able to affect the scores and in Cloris case it did. GOOD FOR HER.
THIS IS NOT A DANCE COMPETITION PEOPLE, IT IS ENTERTAINMENT, ACCEPT THAT.

cloris leachman is great! she's 82 yrs old. she dances extremely well for her age. she's REAL and she's funny as HELL! yea ms leachman, you ROCK! she's like 50 yrs older than me and I wouldn't mind hanging out with her! she seems like a awesome lady!
all the HATERS who don't like her, find another past time because ABC has definitely struck gold with this gem :) all of us here in maryland r gonna make sure she gets out vote! GO CLORIS!

I LOVE watching the couples compete. After a hard day's work, this show provides my mind with moments of relaxation.
Like many viewers I anticipated the performance of Cloris Leachman and was utterly pleased with her first dance performance. She still carries some grace in her movements, and she certainly captivates the audience. Unfortunately, her humor carries too far, and she eventually upsets the viewer rather than entertain him/her. Witty comments can certainly be an added bonus, but delivered properly.
That she gets voted in because viewers appreciate her comedy streak is simply loosing sight of what this show is about ....... honoring the best performances based on dedication & commitment.

For all you folks who are watching this show for a classic dancing contest....GET A LIFE! It's a TV show folks!....you know...entertainment! If ya wanted classic ballroom, then switch channels to professional ballroom dancing contests! Grow up people!

I think that the show loses some of its glamor with someone like Cloris. She is not dancing properly and taking the place of someone who will have a chance.
She's young at heart but also a silly old lady

Cloris stated she IS an orphan not she WAS an orphan, meaning that her parents were NOW dead. She was being funny but apparently that went over the authors head. She is very entertaining on the show and I am sure she is smart enough to know that if she acts that way, it will take her further than her dancing abilities.

Cloris is the best thing on DWTS thus far! She rocks!
No.. she can't dance as well as those youngsters..but, she sure as heck is more entertaining!
She's a comedian! She has made people laugh for a long, long time..
She's having fun, people! And the times our country is having economically..we can use a good laugh. Well... I CAN, ANYWAY! and Cloris did just that. She made me laugh! I LOVE YOU, CLORIS! I hope you get to stay a couple more weeks! Actually!! I HOPE CLORIS WINS! and.. she is NOT TACKY! and she DOES NOT look rediculous.. We need more people and entertainers like Cloris.

The producers must be happy to have an old hag like Cloris on, to create controversy and to jack up th ratings. Why else would you have a "can't dance" has-been actress on your show?

I can't beleive she didn't get voted off, but it is a known fact that the votes are rigged. They are just keeping her on for the ratings. But as for me I may turn it off until she is gone. Hopefully next week. Don't get me wrong. I think it's great she is trying, but she needs to watch her comments. For the person who said her 12 year old enjoyed her. That's too bad. Her comments do not make her a good role modle.

Mabye the problem isn't Cloris Leachman at all (because she is damn amusing!)
Maybe the problem is that people need to lighten up! It's Dancing with the Stars people..........I think the whole point of having a show with people from the entertainment industry is to be just that.......ENTERTAINED.
Those of you griping must be a real treat to be around on a day to day basis.........you've only got so much time here, why not enjoy life to the fullest?
Once again, if you don't like the show there is a thing called a remote, change the station!!!
I sure hope when I reach Cloris Leachman's age I am half as spunky and full of life!

Cloris Leachman is crass and embarassing to watch. She certainly does not have the dignity or grace of actresses like Helen Hayes and Jessica Tandy. It is one thing to be young at heart and adventurous at 82, it is quite another to be a PIG.

I think Cloris Leachman is great out there dancing and if some of these stuck in the mud people would do something, instead of making comments about something an 82 year old woman does. She might not be able to dance that well and she might have some medical problems,but at least she has gotten out there to show others that if you want to do something you can do it. I think she is a very inspiring person for her age and I say go for it as long as you're able.

Cloris Leachman is wonderful and my children(ages 21 and 12 ) love her. We all can not believe that she is 82!!!! We love her and definately look forward to seeing her next week.

Cloris Leachman should be ashame of her self. she acting like a two yr. she's making seniors look very bad I hope that dancing with the stars don't let her get away with her behavior and saying the B word that was just awful. I hope that America People will not stand for this and kick her off.beside she looked like a fat slut.

This has to be rigged by the producers. I cannot believe Cloris Leachman did not get voted off. She has turned this family show into R rated and my children must leave the room. I thought this was a dance contest not a Las Vegas show. Thoroughly disgusted at the producers.
