Hail to the new Emmy chief: 'John Adams'

September 21, 2008 |  7:45 pm

Tonight "John Adams" set a new Emmy record for most wins by a mini or movie.

After winning eight Emmys at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards last weekend, it picked up five more tonight: best mini, actor (Paul Giamatti), actress (Laura Linney), supporting actor (Tom Wilkinson) and writing.

That surpasses the 11 won in 2004 by miniseries "Angels in America" and the same tally earned in 1976 by movie "Eleanor and Franklin."
