Kathryn Joosten wins Emmy for guest comedy actress
A real TV academy insider just won best guest comedy actress — Kathryn Joosten, who portrays an eccentric neighbor on "Desperate Housewives" and is member of the Emmys' board of governors. This is her second award after a previous win in this category in 2005
"Who thought an old lady like me could win this twice!" she exclaimed backstage. Accepting the prize at the podium, she said, "This settles a big problem because I've got two sons and they don't have to fight over who gets it when I die."
I apologize that we aren't providing more lists of winners, but backstage in the press room, the reps keep shutting off the sound feed to the actual awards ceremony while winners for hairstyling and editing chat with reporters. So most of us journos won't have the full list of winners till the show is over when they'll give us the full list. That'll be around 6 p.m. Pacific time.
Unfortunately, Sarah Silverman has not come back to the press room to chat with us — no doubt wishing to dodge questions about her recent breakup with Jimmy Kimmel.
