'Slumdog Millionaire' = Oscar slam dunk?

September 6, 2008 |  9:46 am

The 600 seats at the Varsity 8 theater at the Toronto Film Festival were filled up this morning to see the much-buzzed-about "Slumdog Millionaire," which generated two rounds of applause at the end — one for the flick and the other for its rousing Bollywood dance finale that really wows. Afterward, Jeff Wells of Hollywood-Elsewhere.com and I agreed that we just saw one of Oscar's five best-picture nominees.

I'm sorry but BEST PICTURE??? You have to be kidding me. I saw this movie in Telluride and was bored out of my friggin MIND. Danny Boyle's a fantastic director and all but the storyline in this film is SO cheesy and Western in thought that by the final few 'Millionaire' questions/escapades are thrown the audiences' way, I had to go outside and get some fresh air.

I bet you though 'Crash' was a good BEST PICTURE nominee as well?
