'Eli Stone' welcomes Sigourney Weaver on season premiere
Sigourney Weaver makes her first dramatic TV appearance in three decades guesting in tonight's second season premiere of "Eli Stone" on ABC. The three-time Academy Award nominee appears as the title character's therapist who counsels the counselor before he is re-certified to practice law. This acclaimed movie actress has just the sort of cachet and name recognition that appeals to Emmy voters when they are filling out the guest acting ranks.
In 1988, Sigourney Weaver had the dubious distinction of being the first double Oscar nominee to lose both races. As Dian Fossey in "Gorillas in the Mist," Weaver was bested in the best actress race by Jodie Foster ("The Accused") and as the boss from hell in "Working Girl" she lost the supporting award to Geena Davis ("The Accidental Tourist"). Weaver had already lost her 1986 best actress bid for "Aliens" to Marlee Matlin for "Children of a Lesser God."

And, Weaver should have won an Oscar back in 1988. It is shame that this great actress does not have an Oscar.
