Daytime Emmys deny rumor that broadcast TV has ditched kudocast
"Rumors of our demise are premature," Peter Price tells Gold Derby. The president of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences denies reports by WeLoveSoaps and other media that the Daytime Emmy telecast has been dropped by the broadcast TV channels. In recent years it's gone back and forth between ABC and CBS, but WeLoveSoaps reports that both aren't interested.
However, Price says, "We're currently in active negotiations with two broadcast networks and two cable channels. I expect to make an announcement of final plans in about a month. The only thing up in the air is where the ceremony will be held. It'll be back in New York next year, but we don't know if we're going to Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden or another venue. But the show will go on!"

I really wish they'd give the Daytime Emmy's over to PBS and add a few more technical categories to the main broadcast. PBS tends to dominate the technical awards and the awards for children's programming, so the network should be given a chance to host the ceremony. Also, I'm sure televising a diverse event like the Daytime Emmy's would attract a demographic to PBS that would otherwise bypass the network's programming. The telecast could also prove as a promotional tool for daytime programs on PBS.
A few years ago PBS struck up a deal with CBS where they would air the first hour of the Tony Awards telecast, and that proved to be a success. It wouldn't hurt PBS to host the entire Daytime Emmy ceremony, surely.
