ANSWER: Barbra Streisand's version of "A Star Is Born" (1976) went undefeated at the Golden Globes, winning best musical/comedy picture, actress, actor (Kris Kristofferson), song and music score. It was a weak year. The other nominees for best musical/comedy picture were "Bugsy Malone," "The Pink Panther Strikes Again," "The Ritz" and "Silent Movie." Personally, I think "The Ritz" should've won towels hands down, but its subject matter (zaniness in a gay bathhouse) probably wouldn't have washed back in the 1970s.

Babs' pop-rock redo of the Judy Garland classic doesn't really stand the test of time, although it was a hit with movie-goers back then. Judy's 1954 version, by the way, won two Golden Globes — for best actress, of course, and actor (James Mason). It's an outrage, but it lost best musical/comedy picture to Otto Preminger's "Carmen Jones" starring Harry Belafonte, Dorothy Dandridge and Pearl Bailey.

"The Exorcist," "A Man for All Seasons" and "Gigi" won four Globes each.

Agree that Streisand's version of "Star is Born" hasn't fared well looking back, but let's be honest, it only holds up because of the music sequences of which are top notch and classic streisand, especially the end finale.
