Which 'American Idol' rival will win the most showbiz awards?
It doesn't matter if you think Adam Lambert or Matt Giraud will win "American Idol." Which of the current contestants will have the most triumphant career in future years? Who'll win the most show awards? Lil Rounds? Allison Iraheta?
Remember, Jennifer Hudson only came in seventh in Season 3 of "American Idol," but went on to win the Oscar, Golden Globe, SAG, Critics Choice, BAFTA and New York Film Critics Circle awards for "Dreamgirls." She also won best R&B album at the recent Grammys for her debut disc "Jennifer Hudson."
Meantime, "American Idol" winners like Ruben Studdard and Taylor Hicks have proven to be real losers. Where are their careers?
Recently, Gold Derby asked our forum posters who they believe will emerge the true, ultimate winner of this year's "American Idol," regardless of the season's official scores. See their responses here.

38 million out of the 100 million votes came from the state of Arkansas. Arkansas is less than 1% of the US population. Arkansas does not represent America. Adam Lambert is the most praised contestant in Season 8, the most searched contestant in Google, the most uploaded contestant in YouTube, the most talked about contestant in the USA and the world, the most watched contestant in YouTube, etc. Yet, he lost the votes? Kris is an Arkansas Idol but hardly an American Idol. Adam Lambert was exploited by AI all season for ratings only to be thrown under the bus at the end.

Okay who ever wrote this article is a total Moron.... first of all, AI is a singing contest.. has nothing to do with the GENDER By the way... get rid of that non sense comment everytime an article about Adam Surface online.
The sad part about those previous winner of AI... is the music.. the tempo they made... perhaps they did not get the right music out. The one that succeed.... if you listen to their music they have the right tempo.
You guys are making a FREAKIG deal about Jennifer Hudson grammy awards.. etc... I don't care about her singing... Did you listen to her song last time she was a guest in IDOL? That was a horrific song.. YEAH she has a high vocals that song did not do a thing for me.
HELLO Carrie Underwood is a country music... they go for the Blondie... again she got a couple of nice tempo music that people likes.. again she's a Blond who doesn't go for a Blond Girl regardless of the voice.
Chris Daughtry... again right song .. tempo... but just the other week he was guest in AI... I could careless of the song he sang there. I like his 1st CD.
Kelly Clarkson songs are good sofar the styles and the tempo is make it popular.
Adam Lambert is so Huge already and hasn't won yet.
but yet you are already putting a Negative article about him.
Yes of course you are endorsing Kris Allen... DuH!
I have nothing against Kris but I will not buy his CD... he is good as a cow cow music so not my type. Like some country Rock again it depents on the tempo of the song before I can own one.
By the way.... Kris Allen rendention of "HeartLess" by Kenya West... has been done by THE FRAY... Kris Allen copy cat THe FRAY arrangement but yet, everyone thought it was his Original...LOL Not at all... so you think he is talented can re-arrange his own song NOPE :) Go listen to THE FRAY and you can write a new Article that arrangement already done by someone else.

I am impressed with all of the people that have spoke up in support of Taylor Hicks. As far as I am concerned the season that Taylor was in was the best of them all including this year. After Taylor the Idol shows have been boring and hum drum. I have all of his music and I love it. I would love to have him make a recording of the oldies. I think that would out sell any of the other idols. Simon is a grouchy old man that no longer has a girlfriend. Go Soul Patrol.

People are too negative about other people these days. Why can't people just say who they like. If you don't like someone then why not just say nothing about them rather than being so critical and negative. Maybe some people feel better when they find fault with other people. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I think Matt is a sometimes overlooked talent. He is sort of like a "Justin Timberlake" type singer. He seems very humble.

Mr. O'Neill,
Perhaps you can answer a question for me. How would you feel if the people who helped you get to where you are in your career went on Oprah tomorrow and told the world that hiring you was a mistake? Later, they gave an interview to TIME MAGAZINE saying that those that hired you were clueless, and you were not at all suited for the job. Pretty soon, they either bashed or ignored you at every public event, while heaping praise on one of the other guys you beat out for the job. They barely tolerate you, removing all signs of your existence from all the papers and magazines where your work appears. They may feel obligated to invite you to speak at company functions, but they won't even bother to introduce you. And maybe before everyone leaves, they'll ask everyone to place any trash in Tom O'Neil's lap. They may let up and leave you alone for a few months, only to start their ridiculous bashing about a week before your next book comes out.
This is not a very pleasant scenario, is it, Mr. O'Neil? This is only a small sample of the horrible treatment Taylor Hicks has endured at the hands of American Idol, the very people who brought him to the public's attention. In the following years, he's been the "easy target" for the media who are too lazy to come up with real stories. "Let's just pile on Taylor Hicks. The public will buy that because Simon said so." Et tu, Mr. O'Neil? I'm very disappointed.
I must give Mr. Hicks credit. He has handled the constant attacks with character and dignity. He has not struck back. His eyes are on his goals. He is moving forward. For this alone, I consider him to be the best American Idol that has come from this show. American society needs positive role models. Bashing journalists and bloggers do not qualify. Taylor Hicks does.
If you need a good story, why don't you look into why American Idol decided to try to destroy this young man's career. I don't think it has much to do with his singing. Even snarky Simon admitted a couple of times that Taylor Hicks can sing. I'll bet there's a best seller and some awards for the writer who digs up the true story.

I have watched AI since year one, and I belive that Adam Lambert has the most skilsets from a performer, singer, and presence perspective than any contestant I have seen. What he does with it after AI, regardless of the outcome, is what will determine his success as a future star. I know I have, and will continue to, purchase every weeks selection that he does.

I'm sure Kris could win lots of awards if he would appear in gay porn.

Adam....loved the look!!! Don't forget Paula's statement....less hair in the face because you are so handsome and loose the black nail polish for the voting. The old look could loose you votes no matter how great you are

Why do reviewers bash Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard? Losers???!!! No way. They are both great entertainers. I have been to concerts where they held the audience in the palm of their hand; they were excellent in their performances and am sure they will continue to be. I recently saw Ruben in Ain't Misbehavin here in Birmingham, AL, and the show was like a night on Broadway. Taylor's concerts are outstanding. Take yourself to one of their performances and you will see the proof of what I am saying!!

Taylor Hicks career is just fine. Platinim album, gold single, successful tour of US and Asia, just released new cd, in Grease on Broadway and tour. Have you been living under a rocK?
Posted by: ghrtt3 | March 27, 2009 at 01:00 AM
Okay, I'll take the bait and give you a hit. Neither Ruben or Taylor are losers. They are American Idol winners. No one won by a bigger margin than Taylor. Never once in the bottom three. People do love Taylor and Ruben very much and Taylor is busier right now then he has ever been. Hasn't sold many cd's yet. I don't care. His new cd with Claptons musicians is the best ones out there whether it sells or not. Sales have nothing to do with quality. He is the best performer out there and hes doing well. He gets my award and many others. And Ruben is the only other idol winner that I ever bought an album from.
I wouldn't want you to worry, they will be just fine.

Adam ,you are great,

How dare you call Taylor a loser. He doesn't consider himself one in fact he'll tell you he's right where he wants to be. He is a entertainer and thats something that doesn't always show on a record. He is traveling all over the country making money for the people behind Grease but most important he is making his fans happy wherever he goes.

while Matt G might win the show with his corny look and stage act (the Motown dancing was a sad sight) - in the same way that Taylor Hicks won, I don't think Matt G will last (just like Hicks) Matt G is a product of the tv & a goof gimick. Adam & LiRounds seem to me to have real talent that can survive on the radio. The show's recent track record has not been to good with most "winners" fading after their Idol song peaks.
