Tony Awards prediction: 'God of Carnage' will win best play

April 10, 2009 |  3:32 pm

Carnage

Gold Derby asked Theatermania.com editor Brian Lipton to size up one of the top races at the Tony Awards, which will bestowed on June 7.

Brian tattles to us: "I think the best play category will come down to one of two very different options: a French woman, Yazmina Reza, for 'God of Carnage,' or a dead American man, Horton Foote, for 'Dividing the Estate.'

"In the end, I think 'God' has a couple of distinct advantages: it will still be running and with a four-person cast, it will be favored by regional/road producers."
