At least the Webby Awards appreciate Paris Hilton!
After she was cheated out of an Oscar nomination in 2006 for "House of Wax," can 2009 finally be Paris Hilton's big year for showbiz awards? She swept the Razzies in February (three victories!) and now she's among the nominees at the Webby Awards for her most popular Internet video ever — well, at least one in which she's wearing clothes. Her FunnyOrDie.com retort to John McCain's campaign ad is up for best comedy: individual short or episode at the Webby Awards, which will be bestowed on June 8 at a ceremony in New York hosted by Seth Myers ("Saturday Night Live").
Other notable nominees in that same category include "Prop 8: The Musical" (video below) featuring Jack Black and Neil Patrick Harris in a satiric blast at California's constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, and "Children's Hospital," starring Megan Mullaly and Michael Cera in one of a series of webisodes spoofing TV medical dramas.
The New York Times leads with the most Webby Award nominations (13), followed by NBC.com (12). Check out the full list of nominees in nearly 70 categories and cast your vote for winners.
