After 'American Idol': Will Adam Lambert or Kris Allen win the most awards?
Never mind who will win "American Idol" next week. Will Kris Allen or Adam Lambert emerge as the biggest winner in the future when judging their music careers?
Remember, Jennifer Hudson merely came in seventh place in Season 3 of "American Idol," but now her house is sinking under the weight of all those awards on her mantle, including an Oscar and Golden Globe ("Dreamgirls") plus Grammy ("Jennifer Hudson").
Hey, where's Ruben Studdard today? And let's be honest: Taylor Hicks is lucky to have a spot in the road tour of "Grease" after everybody in America decided not to buy his CDs. By comparison: After Taylor Hicks won in 2006, the band behind the fourth-place finisher, Chris Daughtry, went on to score four Grammy nominations and win four American Music Awards.
Of course, sometimes the "American Idol" winner actually does — egads — become successful, trophies and all. First-year champ Kelly Clarkson has claimed a few Grammys, MTV Video Music Awards, American Music Awards, Teen Choice Awards, even a People's Choice Award. Season 4 victor Carrie Underwood won best new artist at the Grammys plus gads of country music prizes.
A few months ago, when the current season of "American Idol" was still unfurling, I asked this question about the top 10 finalists: Who'll go on to win the most showbiz awards?
Kris Allen merely came in sixth place in our Gold Derby poll, with 4.6% of the vote. Ahead of him were: Adam Lambert (53.8%), Allison Iraheta (13.2%), Danny Gokey (7.9%), Matt Giraud (7.3%) and Lil Rounds (4.8%). Now what do you think, my dear Derbyites?

Elvis is still king of rock&rool ,but I think Adam is going to give him a run . Not , Kris he just can't cut it . He has nothing new in talent to set Him apart.

The question that should be asked is , whose album would you be able to listen to all the way through & over & over?
I don't think I could listen to an Adam song more than once. Can you imagine an album of all that squealing like he did on the show- good for a performance maybe but not the listening ear on an album!!
I've already played Kris 's Heartless & other songs from the show - over & over & the more I listen the more I like them !! That is the sign of a compelling artist that you would want to buy an album of!!
So i definitely think that Kris will be more successful- as these other artists[ Jason Mraz , Jack Johnson etc] have proved .Its this style that many people are listening to & buying now!!

There's no doubt in my mind that Adam will be the most successful. The best talent doesn't always win in "American Idol Land" but it does in the real world. Adam has all the makings of an international superstar. Kris will be moderately successful in America, after all, you guys voted him to victory. Adam will have worldwide sucess though. As for the voting, someone mentioned having a hard time getting through for Adam. That was a very common problem. I know lots of people would couldn't get through for 3 hours. Oh well. Not winning won't slow Adam down. Best of luck to Kris.

iT IS UNANIMOUS IN THIS FAMILY THAT ADAM WAS TOO GOOD FOR AMERICAN IDOL TO BEGIN WITH .. best talent of the decade.......i miss him terribly and wish i could hear him again.......kris was so dumfounded that he won because he knew how utterly riidiculous it was that he did and that it was probably fixed....who could get through to vote for adam? i called for 4 straight hours and got 20 votes in

Yawn!!!!!! Kris is really quite an average singer. He doesn't have the charizma of Jonas Bros. But Adam Lambert has a great great voice and oozes charizma! Adam Rocks and will be a grate star. He can sing anything & everything. & He messmerizes people!! Every teen I know loves Adam. We love him! Adam --we love you. Can't wait to buy your CDs...& we're all going to the AI tour with our parents!! to see you!!! We love Adam Lambert!

boo, you need to get a grip with reality, Come back a year from now and you will be eating your own words. Adam was the obvious winner. I could not even get through to vote, kept getting a recording telling me that I did not have a working number, I know three other people the same thing happened to. I wonder how many other people were not allowed to vote, I tried for 2 hours. Adam will be the over all winner --YOU WATCH!

they both got what what they needed. kris needed to win because his voice is not as identifiable as adams. i doubt whether he will make it in the music biz in the long run. there are millioms of voices like kris out there its musical pablum. adam has an instantly identifiable voice and is on his way to superstardom. coming insecond place is the best thing that could have happened to him. adam will now be ready to take control of his first album without a 5 year ai contract to rein in his creativity. by the way, dont forget that ai brought adam lambert into our homes and hearts. why be mad at them?

This was a great season.
Even though I'm a teenage girl, I was rooting for Adam all the way. From the first time I saw him walk into the audition room, I knew he was going to be something great - hearing him sing only confirmed that.
I don't really like English music, but there ARE a few exceptions, and Adam is one of them. I will definitely be buying his album.

I was just so disgusted in the out come of the show! Have we all forgotten Idol is a TALENT show. Adam is an amazing singer/entertainer, Chris over him, you have got to be kidding me? I will not be watching Idol anymore its a joke!!! But Adam will have a great career, I wish him the success he deserves. He will be a HUGE STAR count on it!

Kris has a very special voice and most importantly his songwriting is excellent. Go and listen to his first record "Brand New Shoes" - has some very good songs. Adam will do very well obviously but he is going to have a different audience than Kris. I have to point out that the Jonas Brothers actually cannot sing very well live (as we saw on the Grammy show this year). Kris Allen can. I predict he will have a very successful touring career at first and blossom into something like Jackson Brown - producing 5+ great records. Check back with you all in 10 years! :-)

The most talented performing artist in decades, the most outstanding singer on show was shut out by an ugly powerful group who preach brotherhood but practice bigotry. So, if awards come from inside the business, Adam will win landslides. Outside the business, talent does not matter, it is doing as dictated or else mentality.

HAH no way chris will get anywhere past his first Cd or so....Adam will go global.and make a real name for himself ......chris will end up in some church choir group eventually boring entertainer ..nice kid , off key a lot, boring voice but he picked 2good songs that sound good no matter who sings them

Adam will not win more awards than Kris Allen. Adam is not contemporary in any way that makes him relevant to today. That is why Kris Allen won. Sure, this is a singing contest, and obviously Adam had a wider range in voice than Kris did, but in the end people will vote for the ARTIST they like the most. They will vote for the person they will buy a cd from, someone who they enjoy listening to. And that person was and is not Adam. There are only a small amount of people who prefer Adam's style and will actually pay money for his music. Kris appeals to a wider range of people and will sell more music. Did you notice who they paired the two up with during the finale? Kris with Keith Urban (relevant) and Adam with Kiss??? So not relevant.

Kris won because people are scared of what's different! They like the safe, no surprise, boring choice.....that's why they all voted for Kris. They know what to expect from him, the same thing over and over and over. They don't want their feathers ruffled. Don't get me wrong, Kris is a GREAT singer, but in no way the same caliber as Adam. Adam gets peoples attention and will continue to for a long time to come! You can't tell me every Tuesday night you weren't anticipating what Adam would do.....he's a pure entertainer through and through!

Adam was definitely the best and should have won. I am a 50 year old woman that has a crush on a gay man. Putting that aside he has a great voice, entertainer and seems to be a really great person inside and out. I wish Kris the best, but the wrong man won!!!

Look, we all knew this show had gone off the rails when Iraheta left before the bland boys. Clearly, AI has no remaining claim to be able to identify actual talent any more. It has become the joke that "vote for the worst" was trying to make of it.

The obvious winner should have been Adam Lambert!
Guess what? Performance, Performance, Performance and Stage presence!
Adam has it all and it should have been a win for him!
Too bad the young girls text their choice for Kris over Adam.
Talent and stage presence and performance should have been the determining factors on American Idol.
I think the Judges should still have the final decision on the final winner.
I don't think I will be watching American Idol any more.
It seems like a popularity contest and yes maybe people in the south are more prejudiced than the people in the West and East coast on the gay issues.

Based on singing standards, Adam is definitely way better than Kris! I feel that Kris trails Allison and Danny in terms of singing quality! Congrats to Kris who upset the odds and won American Idol! But it is future successes that count and Adam will be more successful in his singing career than Kris! I'm sure Adam will sell more records, win more awards and make more money than Kris!

I am in shock this morning....I cannot believe the best vocal artist and the best entertainer did not win AI. This is supposed to be a singing contest, but AI is getting to be more like a popularity contest. I have watched AI since season one, but after last night, I doubt I will ever watch again. Either something went wrong with the voting system or Kris voters are stone deaf. I predict Adam will outsell Kris by millions, as well he should. Even though Adam was 2nd, he will do fine. I can see the record companies lining up now to sign him!!!!

Idol is no longer a singing competition Its a popularity competition. We know Adam deserves to win the idol. No offense to Kris but the guy is just an avergae performer.
