Poll: Who should host the Emmys?
The upcoming Emmy ceremony will be aired by CBS, so that means the host will probably be a regular star of the eye web or one of its corporate affiliates. Because parent company Viacom also owns Comedy Central, it's possible that a headliner such as Stephen Colbert could be tapped. He won an Emmy for variety writing last year and his "The Colbert Report" is now a perennial nominee for the variety-series program prize (though it keeps getting clobbered by "The Daily Show," from which it spun off).
But don't expect "Daily Show" wag Jon Stewart to do the emcee job. As our forums moderator Chris "Boomer" Beachum notes, he probably won't do it "since it would be considered a step down from hosting the Oscars." Chris has launched a forums thread to solicit views — check it out to read reax to suggestions like the ones cited below. Pipe in with your own opinion there or elsewhere at this blog by clicking on the "Comments" link. And vote in our poll! (Unfortunately, you can only vote once, but if I had my druthers, I'd vote to see both Stephen Colbert and Wanda Sykes holding forth from the Emmy stage together. Double mayhem! Double fun!)
