Forum posters say yea and nay to TCA nominations
The nominations for the 25th annual Television Critics Assn. awards elicited a wide range of comments from our forum posters.
Atypical: "The love for "The Shield" is excellent. Walton Goggins! It's about time that some group recognized how great he was on that show."
tornall863: "Weird to see 'Battlestar' nominated for Program of the Year and not Drama Series. Breaking Bad should have Battlestar's spot, but I guess they had to nominate it somewhere 'cause it was the final season. Whatever."
Scout: "I know these nominations are chosen mostly by men, but their constant snubs of women are disgusting."
Joesmith: "I'll never understand what the TCA has against women. They could have easily made room for Jones or Mary McDonnell or someone else in their line up instead of Hugh Laurie."
zembla: "I'm surprised they don't split up the male and female categories, I mean damn...talk about unbalanced! Only one woman for each performance category...bizarre..."
Bazzokka Joe: "Good nominees but count me as one who isn't very happy about January Jones not getting a nom in Individual Achievement."
Buffymars: "Sad the critics completely overlooked the very best performance on TV this past season, Alison Pill. So it's gonna be hilarious when she's snubbed and the critics go out of their way to blast the Emmys for not nominating her."
742: "Usually, TCA usually includes one major stupid choice, and this year it's 'SNL.' A couple of months of sporadically inspired election coverage does not make up for a year filled with spectacularly uneven sketches and writing that swerved from very funny to ghastly in the space of a couple of sketches. I could name at least fifteen shows more deserving of a Program of the Year nod, maybe thirty."
markk: "Funny how quickly they forget about their presumed favorites, huh? "Pushing Daisies" and "Chuck" were two of the most critically lauded shows of the year, but "Big Bang Theory" and "How I Met Your Mother" end up taking their spots. Go figure."
Neurotic21: "Nice to see Steve Carell get his first mention since 2006. Very well deserved."
Iskotar: "Jim Parsons and 'The Big Bang Theory' (are) going big time!"
Noble: "'Colbert Report' should have gotten in over 'Daily Show' and 'SNL.' 'How I Met Your Mother'? really top 5 comedies?"
