HBO likely to land three telefilm nods for 'Grey Gardens,' 'Into the Storm' and 'Taking Chance'
Our pundits — forum moderators Robert "Rob L" Licuria and Chris "Boomer" Beachum (AwardsHeaven.net) — predict that HBO will continue to dominate this category, scoring nods for three of its movies made for television – "Grey Gardens," "Into the Storm," and "Taking Chance." They also think that Lifetime will get a nomination for "Prayers for Bobby."
However, they disagree over which telefilm will get the sixth slot on the list. Boomer opts for the stirring WWII biopic "The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler" while Rob reluctantly endorses the TV movie version of the Emmy-winning drama series "24."

ROB'S COMMENTARY: I don't think it is very fair that "24: Redemption" be allowed to compete win this category, especially with "24" eligible in the Drama Series categories.
OK, that out of the way, I think it has an excellent shot at a nomination this year (and Fox will no doubt be thrilled to make it into this category, which it has not been able to do since 1992 for "Doing Time on Maple Drive").
Otherwise, we'll see the 3 usual suspects from HBO and Lifetime's strong entry "Prayers for Bobby." In with a shot are "Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story" from TNT, "Wallander: One Step Behind" from PBS and CBS' "The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler."
BOOMER'S COMMENTARY: The TV movie category has been incredibly diminished over the past few years with the broadcast networks barely utilizing them anymore. The eventual winner of this category will be HBO's "Grey Gardens".
Beyond that, I have 2 other HBO films ("Into the Storm" and "Taking Chance") as contenders. CBS has the Hallmark presentation of "Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler" starring Anna Paquin. Lifetime has put a lot of effort into getting a nomination for "Prayers for Bobby" and its star Sigourney Weaver.
Any one of these could be bumped for Lifetime's "Coco Chanel," CBS' "Front of the Class" (another Hallmark presentation), TNT's "Gifted Hands" starring Cuba Gooding Jr. or PBS' Kenneth Branagh vehicle "Wallander." Another final contender not to overlook is "24: Redemption" (but I personally would rather not see a glorified 2-hour episode of a series in this category).
