Yep, Emmy voters are still suckers for split personalities
Just as we warned you might happen, Emmy voters are absurdly picking actors who portray split personalities: Alec Baldwin ("30 Rock") and Toni Collette ("United States of Tara"). In his sample episode submitted to Emmy judges ("Generalissimo"), Baldwin portrayed his usual character (ruthless corporate suit) plus a look-alike (star of Hispanic TV soap opera). In "Tara," Collette portrays four personalities, including a redneck man. Read more about the peculiar fondness that Hollywood awards have for such roles here.

i suppose that since multiple personalites/twins is somewhat of a tv cliche--and sometimes it's not handled all that well (ali larter is pretty, but not necessarily up to it on heroes / it's not eliza dushku's strength either), that relatively good portrayals (like erica slezac and david canary on soaps) get praise.
