Experts predict Golden Globe winners: 'Avatar,' 'Up in the Air,' Meryl Streep and ...
The race for best drama picture at the Golden Globes is a close contest between "Avatar" and "Up in the Air," according to the predictions of these pundits: Thelma Adams (Us Weekly), Scott Bowles (USA Today), Lane Brown (Vulture, New York Magazine), Erik Davis (Cinematical), Edward Douglas (ComingSoon.net), Scott Feinberg (AndTheWinnerIs), Marshall Fine (Star Magazine, Hollywood and Fine), Paul Gaita (The Circuit, The Envelope), Pete Hammond (Notes on a Season, The Envelope), Courney Hazlett (Scoop, MSNBC), Dave Karger (Entertainment Weekly), Tariq Khan, (Fox News), Peter Knegt (Indie Wire), Kevin Lewin (World Entertainment News Network), Guy Lodge (InContention), Michael Musto (Village Voice), Mark Olsen (L.A. Times), Steve Pond (The Odds, TheWrap), Nathanial Rogers (FilmExperience), Sam Rubin (KTLA), Sasha Stone (AwardsDaily), Peter Travers (Rolling Stone), Jeff Wells (Hollywood-Elsewhere), Chuck Walton (Fandango), Susan Wloszczyna (USA Today).
We'll be adding more predictions from other prophets soon, so keep checking back to Gold Derby. As for me, well, I need more time to noodle some of these races. I've included some predix below; more to follow. Forecastng the Globes is always a puzzle. This year is harder than most.

Avatar is like the Gone With The Wind of the 21st Century. It would be a travesty if it doesn't win big at the GG's.

Where do we go to find the presenters at the GGs? Although I would not put Robert Pattinson's performance in the Twilight series in the same acting category with the Colin Firths and George Clooneys and Jeff Bridges of the world yet, he is a future super artist not simply super star. Make no mistake millions of movie goers paid good money to see Robert in the second installment of the Twilight series because there is something extraordinarily likeable about him that translates on the screen. While the studio seems to be pushing Taylor Lautner, it was Rob Pattinson that drew us in to begin with and brought us back for more. I would love to see him as a presenter at the event. He lights up the screen whether large screen or small.

If the vote takes/took place after "Avatar" plundered worldwide, and these guys want to stay relevant in their home countries, the HFF will vote the world's biggest B.O. hit as best film (drama).
