If Penelope Cruz ("Nine") wins on March 7, she'll become the third star to claim the Oscar for best supporting actress twice. One of the current dual champs was Dianne Wiest ("Hannah and Her Sisters," 1986; "Bullets Over Broadway," 1994). Can you name the other? The real question, however, is who has won the same acting award two years in a row, as Cruz would do if she won? That's highly unlikely--not just because Mo'Nique has this year's Oscar locked in, but also because that has NEVER happened for Best Supporting Actress. It's happened twice each for Best Actor (Spencer Tracy, 1937-38; Tom Hanks, 1993-94) and Best Actress (Luise Rainer, 1936-37; Katharine Hepburn, 1967-68), and once for Best Supporting Actor (Jason Robards, 1976-77).
