Mo'Nique dances with her Golden Globe on her TV show
"Oh, baby! We did it, baby! We did it!" cheered Mo'Nique on her TV show last Thursday as she stepped out before the studio audience, dancing and wiggling as she pumped her Golden Globe in the air triumphantly. "Hey, baby! Let me say 'welcome to our show' 'cause this is our show, baby, as we celebrate our award. This is ours, y'all. We won this award. And I gotta say that when they called my name I didn't have enough time to get nervous because the moment we sat down, they said, 'And the nominees are ....'
"Now the little girl in me -- because you know that she's right there in full force -- the little girl in me was sitting at that table and she kept saying 'I told you. I told you. I told you. I told you ... I told you that one day we would experience this.' So the reason that I brought this out on this stage is to say to the world, baby, is to dream the impossible dream. This is possible. So I'm going to pass this around along the front row. Hold it and pass it down. If you drop it, I swear to God ... hold it and pass it down ... Yes, baby! Hold that baby! Feel it! Yes, baby!"
Once the trophy was retrieved from the audience and things calmed down a bit, Mo'Nique added, "Now I did that for a reason and it was not to impress nobody, but it was to impress upon everybody that [that] right there is possible for anybody who wants to reach out and touch it, baby. So for all of you out there in the world, I say, 'thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!' Y'all ready to get this show started?"
What was strange about her shtick was that she didn't mention the words "Golden Globe" or "Hollywood Foreign Press Assn." She just referred to "this award." When she wins the Academy Award next and shares it with her audience, I have a strong hunch she'll mention the word "Oscar," don't you?

Tom, I concur with the others who have posted here. Your frequent reporting of everything many have felt Mo'Nique has done wrong this award season is getting a bit old. Look, she might be naive to think that it is about the work that she did, but isn't that how it should be. Furthermore, the woman does have a talk show, and even if many think it is insignificant to campaigning for the Oscars, there are a lot of people who enjoy it and there are a lot of people working behind the scenes who depend on her taking the job seriously. I think she has been gracious during her acceptance speeches and to say that she is without class, as someone did here, is a bit unfounded. She is celebrating. Isn't that what many pundits criticized her for NOT doing earlier?

what do u have against monique? gosh it seems like everywhere you look, some1 is trying to make nothing into something. just how there was an article stating how monique only wants the oscar for $. Out of all the questions she asked terrence h and taraji on her show, it was an article saying monique "what does it mean financially for me" when it fact she didnt say tht. gosh its ppl like u tht have no morals

How is Tom hating on Mo'Nique? He just posted a story about her celebrating. You can draw your own conclusions. But personally, it was tacky. I'd rather see some with class like Vera Fermiga win, but I know it won't happen. Mo'Nique is always biting the hand that feeds her.

You are so sickening sometimes. The way you have hated on Mo'Nique all season long is a disgrace. You will try and nail her for anything - even if its celebrating winning. FACE IT - She gives the best performance of the year. FACE IT - Its so good that it doesnt matter whether or not she campaigns for a win, shes winning it. On the merit of her acting. Shouldn't it always be that way? FACE IT - no matter how much you may hate Mo'Nique (all of which is pathetic) - she has ruled this season. And none of your hate mongering posts have mattered.
