Can 'Avatar' crush 'Twilight: New Moon' at the MTV Movie Awards?
Our forum posters don't believe recent Oscar champ "The Hurt Locker" will even be nominated for best picture at the MTV Movie Awards. As they post their predictions in our message boards, our posters agree that front-runners for nominations are "Avatar," "The Hangover" and "Twilight: New Moon" plus maybe "Star Trek," "Inglourious Basterds," "Up" and/or "The Blind Side."
Voting commenced Monday to determine nominees, which will be unveiled around May 11. Cast your own vote here. Awards to be presented on June 6 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.
Oscar's recent winner of best supporting actor, Christoph Waltz ("Inglourious Basterds"), is a good bet to be nominated for the MTV Movie Award as best villain. And he may win – just like Heath Ledger pulled off the dual wins for his sinister turn in "The Dark Knight." But that's the only overlap between Oscars and MTV Awards you're likely to see this year. The two awards agreed on best picture only three times in 18 years: "The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King," "Gladiator" and "Titanic." Otherwise, the Academy Award winners – to be brutally frank about it – rarely even get nominated by the MTV hipsters. Last year "Slumdog Millionaire" made the list, but it lost to "Twilight."
The newest "Twilight" installment, "New Moon," was beloved by the hipsters too, so it could win. Voters have no problem embracing sequels. All three installments of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy reigned as best picture, after all. The hipsters are also not afraid to choose comedies ("Wedding Crashers," "Napoleon Dynamite"), so that means "The Hangover" has a chance to win.
But not a great chance, let's face it. "Avatar" will probably be hard to beat. Popcorn doesn't get any better than that and its loss at the Oscars – in the minds of most hipsters -- needs to be avenged, of course.

I believe that New Moon should win! I mean, Avatar was a good movie and all but the story line was completely confusing, and a ripe off of Pocahontas; And you can't say it wasn't, because it clearly was. Even though Avatar had beyond great graphics doesn't mean the movie deserves to win. The movie was waaaay to long anyways. As in New Moon, the story line and plot was much better. I've read the twilight saga books millions of times, and I could at least say that New Moon lives up to the book. People, be realistic ; New Moon was a much better book and who gives a damn how much money each movie made or if they were placed into the top 100 or whatever. NEW MOON WiNS ! (:

I'm sooooo afraid that Avatar will win in all the categories that it has been nominated in.
I haven't seen Avatar, but some of my friends have and yeah... But no matter what, I think that New Moon deserves to win more than Avatar does. Avatar was computer animation, computer animation, computer animation.... And so on.. But New Moon, yes there was some CGI and stuff in, but there were still more acting and showing emotions from REAL people in the movie than in Avatar.
So fingers crossed for New Moon and the Twilight cast!!! Vote for them!

I hope Avatar wins cause everybody has gotten so crazy over the Twilight Saga that it has gotten old and really annoying.

If Avatar or some other good movie keeps New Moon from winning at the MTV Movie Awards, then order will be restored. Save the moviegoing public, save yourselves and don't vote for New Moon.

i love "TWILIGHT" SO I KNOW THEY WILL WHEN ALL THE THINGS THERE nominated for... bc everyone loves the movies and book... and Avatar wasnt even a good movie i didnt even understand it!!!..... i know lots of ppl watched it bc it was in 3D thats all.

I dont mean to be rude, but obviously Twilight:New Moon will win! Im a fan myself :) and i know many other people out there are as well. Im not saying that Avatar wasnt a good movie because I havent seen Avatar. I dont care for movies like that. I have read all the Twilight books and fell in love with them!!

em,twilight nnew moon,is well better than avatar by i don't know how many times,but its just great,i read all the twilight books,and twilight is amazing in so many ways,like there's action,romance and comedy.so twilight new moon would win

New Moon should win. Avatar was great but New Moon was better. In Avatar most of the movie was made by computer animations but in New Moon its mostly about acting, the actors get to show their feelings and it was hard for the cast. Anyone can make computer animations, of course! But the New Moon cast deserves it. New Moon deserves to win.

i feel twilight new moon will get the most votes as there are many twilight fans and its hard not to be intrigued with the film and the up coming sagas.

Avatar is an awesome movie, I saw it and loved it!
I do think it is a better movie, but I'm a huge fan of the twilight books and movies. SO TWILIGHT ALL THE WAY!!

Twilight saga:New moon!!!!!New moon is much better than the movie Avatar...and I watch Avatar, and is not a bad film but I vote 100% for the New moon!!!! <3 <3 <3 Twilight saga <3< 3 <3 --the best films on hole world!!!! And Avatar is very good film but New moon is much better and he has much more fans than Avatar!!!! So...New moon should wit!!! <3

i love the twilight saga .I think that it is the most good movie. I have not seen the avatar , but i don't believe that is good movie, so my opinion is the new moon must be win.

Oh my God!
This will be a hard decision!!!
I watched New Moon and it was soooo amazing but I also watched Avatar and ist was unbeliveable!!! So it will be hard and I'm not sure which movie will win!! Cause both movies are so great.
