I have lost all faith in the Academy Awards to truly honor the "best" in filmmaking. When they gave the award for Best Actress to Sandra Bullock instead of Meryl Streep, it made me realize how often these so-called awards are more of a popularity contest rather than truly recognizing talent and skill.
I loved Sandra Bullock's acceptance speech. She was much more humble and gracious than Mo'Nique, who sounded indignant and entitled. What the hell did she mean about the Academy giving her the award means that they are honoring the performance over the politics. Does she really think that the other nominees did not give a performance worth recognizing? How ridiculous.

Just finished watching the Oscars and I can't believe that they forgot Farrah Fawcett in the "In Memorium" segment of the show! Her death was completely overshadowed by Michael Jackson last year, and now her community has forgotten her at their most prestigous event of the year.

Maybe this show is more fun if one is sitting in the audience??
