Hey, Miley Cyrus: Get your Razzie acceptance speech ready for 'The Last Song'

March 31, 2010 | 11:17 am

Well, at least Miley Cyrus will surely be nominated for a Razzie for her critically bashed "performance" in "The Last Song." We probably shouldn't get her hopes up too high about "winning," though. We haven't seen Lindsay Lohan 's "Machette" yet – or "Twilight Saga: Eclipse."

Miley Cyrus The Last Song news

Razzie voters adore rewarding pop tarts who attempt to act. Some of its biggest past champs include Madonna, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. We know that Miley Cyrus is on voters' radar. She was just nominated for worst actress for "Hannah Montana: The Movie," but lost to Sandra Bullock ("All About Steve").

Film critics certainly think that Miley deserves to be pelted with raspberries for appearing in "The Last Song," which only scores 39 at Metacritic. The New York Times asserts that acting "seems almost entirely beyond her," adding, "In 'The Last Song,' she pouts, slouches, storms in and out of rooms and occasionally cracks a snaggle-toothed smile, but most of the time she seems to be mugging for the camera, play-acting rather than exploring the motives and feelings of her character."

Lou Lumenick of the New York Post says that Miley displays "approximately 1 1/2 expressions" on screen, adding, "It's the worst of both worlds as Disney cash cow Miley Cyrus makes the most dubious 'dramatic' debut of any singer since Britney Spears."

As I read this article, I was thinking that an Oscar would be more suitable than a Razzie for Miley's stellar performance in the Last Song. The movie should also receive a nomination for Best Movie of the Century.-----------------
LOL!! I love your sarcasm. Only thing is, Miley's fans are girls and are all 12 years old and younger...they are too stupid to see through your comment, and will take it to heart like you were being serious. Just sayin'.

I can see Miley getting another Razzie nomination for this film, because right now "The Last Song" has scored only 13% rating on Rotten Tomatoes with the conensus saying that she was miscast in the role. I want to see her earn another nod.

This was the best Nicholas Sparks movie so far. And Miley did great in it. I didn't realize she had such big beautiful blue eyes until the closeups. Good character developement; good directing.

Jeez! People can't post the truth here without being told they'd be hatin', puuuleeezzeehh!! Get real! no one is hating...It's the simple fact that Miley can't act, her music sucks...and she's simply a celeb because of her famous daddy...over all films like The Notebook, Dear John and this turkey are all maudlin, sappy, sucky films to get teen girls and some adult (lonely) females all hot and bothered over the male lead with the hot body and the silly happily ever after love story of that prince who comes for his fair-maiden (GAG!!)...typical chick-flick...boooorrrringggg!

Why does Miley sound like a 60-year old lifetime smoker when she talks? Very strange . . .

ABOUT TIME THEY REALIZED HER ACTING ABILITY. HOW LONG DID IT TAKE? 4 YEARS.... WOW.....

At least someone realizes that she can't act. She plays herself on Hannah Montana, talking like a cartoon gopher. And from the clips I've seen of "The Last Song" that's the extent of her acting ability.

That was just.. wow. ;l
Havent seen the last song yet.

During a video interview, the director Julie Ann Robinson stated that Miley peformed and did everything she ask of her, which begs the question, is the so call poor acting on Miley's part a result of her own short commings or is it a result of her being somewhat new to movie acting and simply responding to the what the director was asking of her.

I just got back from seeing it, and her acting has improved tremendously from last year's Hannah Montana movie & her acting on the Hannah Montana show. I enjoyed the movie, and cried because of Nicholas Sparks' typical formula. Cyrus portrayed the role of an angsty teenager very well, but redeems herself and I felt like she showed an incredible emotional range in this film. I can't wait to see what other projects she tackles. People are too harsh on her because she's "Disney". Please, give the girl some time to grow.

your disgusting and evil, iv never read anything so cruel before in my life, i actually think she was excellent, people need to stop hating on her for no reason at all, because by the sounds of it it seems like whether she did a great job or not you would say something so cruel n hurtful anyway. your a bitter and hateful person

i think she did a wicked good job in the last song!! she has come such a long way.. remember that she is only 17, jeeze stop trying to tear her down. i just saw the movie and it was amazing and clearly she is better than both you and i so stop criticizing her, there is no point.
