Will HBO's 'Treme' be a tremendous hit with Emmy voters?

March 23, 2010 |  1:30 pm

Treme HBO Emmy news

The next hot TV series from Emmy titan HBO is "Treme," which debuts at a very Emmy-friendly time: April 11 (or about six weeks before the end of the Emmy eligibility period). It's about the rebuilding of New Orleans after Katrina with special focus on the neighborhood called "Treme" that's a haven for musicians. It has got a high hip factor, featuring "The Wire" stars Wendell Pierce and Clarke Peters plus John Goodman ("Roseanne"), Steve Zahn ("Comanche Moon") and Kim Dickens ("Deadwood"). "Treme" is the creation of "The Wire" producers David Simon and Eric Overmyer. That may be a bad omen considering how poorly "The Wire" fared at the Emmys.
