Here's how tenacious our Derbyites can be. After viewing "Lend Me a Tenor" on Broadway, our trusty forums moderator Matt Noble waited at the stage door to have a word with Tony Shalhoub and let him know that he's got an excellent shot at winning his fourth Emmy for "Monk," thus beating two-time recent champ Alec Baldwin ("30 Rock"). The sample episode Tony gave to Emmy judges is the two-hour series finale in which Monk finally solves his wife's murder. It's not only a big operatic performance full of Monk's signature, wacky ticks, but it's a much longer performance in terms of screen time than the ones submitted by rival nominees.Tony seems surprised to hear the good Emmy news.
Tom O'Neil has the inside track on Oscars, Emmys, Grammys and all the award shows.
