"The Social Network" is guaranteed a spot on Oscar's best picture list and may even be the front-runner to win. The film about the launch of Facebook is written by Aaron Sorkin ("The West Wing," "A Few Good Men"), directed by David Fincher ("Zodiac," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button") and produced by Scott Rudin ("No Country for Old Men," "There Will Be Blood," "Julie and Julia"). And it will open the New York Film Festival on Sept. 24. (that seems to be a magic perch to get flicks into the best picture race). Here's the latest trailer.
Tom O'Neil has the inside track on Oscars, Emmys, Grammys and all the award shows.
